The 21st of July was a sparkling day for the MGers that turned out for the Bay
State MGA Club sponsored Cape Ann motor tour. The
10 cars making the tour rendezvoused in Beverly about 10am and included 7 As, 2
Bs and a TD. Dick and Nancy Fabrizio in
their 1958 MGA led the group through Beverly, Beverly Farms, Manchester, Magnolia,
Gloucester and Rockport. The route
some of which ran along the seashore proved to be ideal driving for the cavalcade. The temperature heated up a bit during the tour,
but all cars performed flawlessly with only one requiring some additional coolant.
As we progressed along the sea in Magnolia and through Stage Fort Park in Gloucester, the
onlookers were suitably impressed. Young and
old alike stared, waved and commented as we motored by.

After passing through the Blynmann drawbridge in Gloucester (we lucked out as the bridge
was going down when we arrived), we stopped at the State Fish Pier to stretch our legs and
regroup. Upon proceeding we stopped at Larry
Swifts for a pit/beer stop and to look at the MGA restoration project underway. After a brief respite, we drove along Bass Rocks
enjoying a wonderful ocean view, roared through downtown Rockport and circled the Cape
through Lanesville and Annisquam. We ended
the day with a cookout at Nancy and Dicks home in Gloucester.
